A tribute to the 63,000 people displaced and the 31 Wineries, Restaurants and Businesses lost to the Glass Fire in 2020 as of this writing.

This is a live performance at Chappellet Winery in 2017 to celebrate art and wine.

In the summer of 2017, Molly Chappellet of Chappellet Winery invited Flutist Matt Eakle and I to create a performance piece to celebrate her winery and the art of her dear friends. I selected this piece to pay tribute to the people of Northern California whose lives have been displaced by the Glass Fire this fall of 2020. We performed into the interior space of the winery, using it’s unique acoustic to frame the celebration. Even the wine itself made an appearance as glasses were tuned by the percussionists to ring the background chord of the finale. This excerpt is the last of three movements included in the film “That Was Then, This is Now” by Brian Capener.

In 2005, Christopher Howell of Cain Vineyards invited me to use the bowl of the mountain vineyard as a giant sound system, placing speakers at a distance to reverberate in the valley.

He invited me once again to compose for this beautiful space in the autumn of 2019. The winery was recently destroyed. This tribute was inspired by Christopher and Cain Vineyards.
